Malaria & NTDs

Our areas of expertise include conducting vaccine trials, drug efficacy studies and integrated control strategies particularly in field-based sample collection. Through our internationally standardized lab, we are able to carry out experiments and trials on malaria covering all key areas of research.

OUR SATELLITE SITE in Bungoma has been strategically located in a region where we can effectively access patients and make a significant impact in an area heavily affected by malaria.

Respiratory Infections

We bring expertise in TB, COVID-19 and influenza clinical trials including aerosol sampling, drug resistance mapping and advanced imaging where necessary. Our experienced team is proficient in managing respiratory diseases. With tools like X-rays and spirometry, we are well-prepared to handle common diseases.

OUR WORK ON COVID-19 has further enhanced our readiness to manage future pandemics.

Oncology

We are fully capable of executing trials on solid tumors and hematological malignancies. This covers areas such as targeted therapy, translational biomarker studies, and supportive care.

Cardiology

Our team is equipped to manage real-world outcome studies for heart failure, arrhythmias and ischemic heart disease. We are capable of conducting device trials and investigate novel pharmacotherapeutics.

Point-of-Care Testing (POCT)

Our work includes prototype development, usability testing, and clinical validation of rapid diagnostic kits. Through the efforts of our diverse team at Gitaka Lab, we've successfully demonstrated point-of-care prototypes both nationally and beyond.

We offer high-sensitivity PCR-based assays for pathogen detection and genomic profiling. With our Center for Malaria Lab’s advanced technology and the expertise of our team, we are well-equipped to handle complex assays and sequencing
